Frequently Asked Questions

01

Do you have to have kids to be involved in SAA?

Absolutely not! We have a broad demographic of members, from members with teenage children to newly married/dating couples with no kids (or any planned in the near future!). You are welcome to join us (and will find good company) regardless of your parental status.

02

When is the next opportunity to get involved; and how do we stay updated about what's going on in SAA?

One of the best ways to connect with us and get involved is to come to one of our monthly meetings, which occur on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm in Merkel auditorium on campus. At these meetings, you will learn about any upcoming events/activities and have an opportunity to sign up on a committee if you're interested in helping! However, even if you can't make it to the meetings, you can stay up-to-date by checking the website and following our official Facebook page. If you are a current member, you can also request to join our "OSU-COM SAA" Facebook group, where we not only send invites about upcoming events, but all members can post questions, ideas, or even just vent/laugh about medical school life. You can also see a photographic record of what SAA has been up to lately by searching Instagram for the hashtag #osucomsaa (this is a new addition, so photos will begin popping up as the 2014-2015 school year starts).

03

How big of a time commitment is SAA?

The time commitment of being involved in SAA can be as much or as little as you'd like it to be. We do numerous events and service activities each month; and you are welcome to come to as few or as many as you're able! Our hope is that our organization serves as a blessing, not a burden, to our SAA members and their families.

04

Do you have to be married to be involved in SAA?

Nope! Like the "kiddos" question - we have a vast demographic of members; so you will find members who have been married 10+ years, newly married/engaged couples, and dating couples. We are all in this medical school journey together, regardless of marital status, which gives all of us a great common ground!

05

Who can we talk to for general questions about living in Tulsa? (best schools, living areas, physicians, daycares, restaurants, etc.)

You are welcome to ask any of us any question that might be on your mind about living in/moving to Tulsa - or anything else for that matter! We often get texts, emails or Facebook messages with questions about the best local daycare, available rent houses, or even just a restaurant recommendation - It's our joy to help! If you haven't had the chance to meet any of us personally yet to get a cell phone number - you can message us on Facebook through our page or e-mail us at saa.osu@gmail.com. You are also more than welcome to call/text our president, Kathleen Rawlinson with any questions/comments/concerns on her cell: 918.232.5103.
